Edward W. Punzel

Edward W. Punzel, 98, Lake Mills, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Willowbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on March 18, 1914 in the Town of Waterloo, the son of the late William and Helena (Jortzig) Punzel.

Edward married Eunice Wineland on April 26, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson. She died on April 14, 1979.

He had been a resident of Lake Mills since the 1940’s.

Edward had farmed for 5 years in the Lake Mills and Waterloo area, was employed at Stoppenbach’s in Jefferson for 7 years and the City of Lake Mills for 40 years, retiring in 1976. In retirement, he enjoyed being with his family, doing custodial and repair work at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, and while living at Rock Lake Manor in Lake Mills, he planted and cared for many flower beds for a number of years.

He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his children, Nancy Radloff, Ronald (Virginia) Punzel, Ruth (Jose) Castro all of Lake Mills, Margaret Stevens of Waukegan, IL; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Schroeder of Lake Mills; sister-in-law, Eldoris Punzel of Lake Mills; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Also preceding in death were four brothers, Harlan, Raymond “Pete”, Merlin, Leslie; two sisters, Sylvia Punzel in infancy and Elaine Moldenhauer; one grandson, Todd Punzel; and two son-in-laws, Roland Radloff and Larry Stevens.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bruce A. McKenney and Rev. James E. Rath officiating.

Burial will be in the Rock Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church until the time of service.

If desired, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Church and School or to the charity of one’s choice.
