William C. Nelson

U.S. Veteran

William C. Nelson, 81, Lake Mills, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.

He was born on March 14, 1931 in Deerfield, the son of the late William O. and Bernice V. (Bergholz) Nelson.

Bill married Norma Zade Rieck on June 8, 1985 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.

He was a graduate of the Deerfield High School, class of 1949.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He had been employed by the former Crepaco Inc. in Lake Mills.

Bill was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Clarence Bean-Warren George American Legion Post #67 in Lake Mills.

He was an avid Harley motorcycle rider.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim (Leighton) Morris of Waukesha, step-son, James (Suzanne) Rieck of Oconomowoc; step-daughter, Teresa (Brian) Mitchell of Fort Atkinson; 9 grandchildren, Robbie, Tommy and Katelyn Morris, Matthew and Amanda Rieck, Josh Uhing, Zach, Lindsie and Justin Mitchell; two great grandchildren, Jeron Frey and Eminence Uhing; brother, David (Ruth) Nelson of Marshall; sister, Carolyn (William) Nicholson of Stoughton; sister-in-law, Rachel Frey of Lake Mills; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Also preceding in death was a step-son, Thomas Rieck and a brother-in-law, Dean Frey.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. James E. Rath and the Rev. Bruce A. McKenney officiating.

Burial will be in the Hauge Cemetery in the Town of Deerfield.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church until the time of service.

Memorials may be made to the church or Rainbow Hospice Care Inc.
